About Wanji
Wanji Walcott joined Pinterest as Chief Legal, Business Affairs Officer and Corporate Secretary in 2022. She brings almost 30 years of experience as a trusted advisor and counselor to a diverse range of organizations and leaders and has been recognized as an outstanding strategist, corporate culture influencer and people leader.
A longtime believer in the saying that “to whom much is given, much is required,” Walcott seeks to bring an unerring focus on serving the public good in her role overseeing the compliance, legal, government affairs & social responsibility, philanthropy, ESG & sustainability, and trust and safety teams at Pinterest. She leads Pinterest’s work to champion policies that reflect the company’s positive values, representing the company in venues from Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to the World Economic Forum in Davos. She has spoken on topics from tuning artificial intelligence for good to protecting youth safety and promoting inclusive leadership.
Walcott was born in Rochester, New York, and raised in Massachusetts. Her legal career has led her to companies from Lockheed Martin to PayPal, where she served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Most recently, she was Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Discover Financial Services. She is on the board of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. Walcott also serves on the Frederick Gunn School Board of Trustees and on the Woman’s Board of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Walcott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Howard University and a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law.
