At Pinterest, we believe in building a more positive and inspirational world, both online and offline. This April, that belief came to life as hundreds of employees across the globe participated in our fourth annual Global Week of Service, a signature volunteer initiative aligned with Global Volunteer Month and Earth Day. This year, we focused on making a tangible impact in our communities and reinforcing our commitment to protecting the planet we share.
Setting the tone for a week of impactful engagement, our executive team kicked off Global Week of Service with a dedicated volunteer effort at their team onsite. This hands-on approach from leadership reinforces our belief that community service and giving back is integral to Pinterest’s company culture.
“
At Pinterest, we believe in the power of connection and the importance of giving back. Global Week of Service is a key part of how we live our values, demonstrating our commitment to both our communities and our planet. It’s inspiring to see our teams come together to make a real difference.”
Doniel Sutton, Chief People Officer
Throughout the week, we were thrilled to see employees across our global offices volunteer at events in 20+ cities around the globe. From beach cleanups with the Surfrider Foundation in the U.S., EU, and Australia to a public school revitalization project in Brazil, our teams rolled up their sleeves and actively contributed to positive change in their communities. Participating Pinterest offices included Berlin, Dublin, Hamburg, London, Mexico City, Paris, São Paulo, Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto, and numerous locations across the United States. Each event was an opportunity for employees to connect with colleagues, give back to their communities, and reinforce Pinterest's commitment to being a force for good across our industry, communities and the planet.
A driving force behind this year’s initiative was Pinterest’s inaugural Impact Ambassador Network. Launched this year, this global initiative empowers employees to organize volunteer opportunities in their regions, helping us create meaningful impact in local communities around the world. These passionate employees play a crucial role in our community engagement strategy by ensuring the success of local events and inspiring their colleagues to get involved. Their dedication and enthusiasm were instrumental in driving engagement and creating a sense of community for this year’s Global Week of Service. Throughout the year, Impact Ambassadors will continue to look for new opportunities to activate colleagues and support their local communities.
“
I came into the new year committed to giving back and doing what I could to support local communities and organisations. Being able to contribute meaningfully–particularly to causes that I am passionate about–truly makes me feel like I am doing something right, and that’s a great feeling. I'm thrilled for this opportunity to learn and work alongside the Global Impact Ambassador team to perform meaningful initiatives down under.”
