Declutter your Life

Minimalism. Decluttering. KonMari method. With the hit show "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo," these searches have spiked on Pinterest since the start of 2019. More and more people are looking for ways to keep the house tidy, spark more joy and have less cluttered lives.

Searches on the KonMari decluttering method have raised to 710% globally since last year. Here are some of the top ways that Pinners are looking to the Eastern Zen mindset of letting go:

Plan the ultimate ski vacation

Winter is still in full swing and it’s time to start planning a snow vacation for the books. Take it from top Pinner Erin Hiemstra of Apartment34:  “Pinterest is one of the first places I go to search for travel destinations. I’m drawn in by a gorgeous image that leads me to a fresh destination. I often look at other Pinners’ travel boards to see what they’re saving. I love that I can use sections to segment summer destinations from winter or US travel spots from international.”

We rounded up some top winter destinations and ski essentials in order to take advantage of the snow covered peaks this season.

Top global ski destinations Pinners are loving

  1. Niseko, Japan
  2. Aspen, Colorado
  3. Tarentaise Valley, Savoie, French Alps
  4. Swiss Alps
  5. Trysil, Norway

“I take an annual ski trip to Montana. It’s a little off the beaten track but absolutely beautiful. I’ve yet to Pin it because I don’t want it to get too discovered!” Erin Hiemstra of Aparment34

Fave ski essentials from Pinterest and Erin Hiemstra of Apartment34

Making beauty searches more inclusive

Of the top 100 search terms related to "skin" in 2018, 58% included a skin color or tone, such as dark skin, medium skin, pale skin, brown skin, and skin tones such as olive and cool. With this in mind, as well as feedback from Pinners like Priyanka, we launched skin tone ranges, most recently on mobile. Which means, Pinners can filter by skin tone ranges when searching for hair and makeup ideas, for more personalized results.  Check out our Newsroom for more information.
