At Pinterest, inspiration is only powerful when it leads somewhere real. 631 million users1 come to Pinterest every month, most of them women and girls. That scale comes with responsibility. This Women’s Health Month, we’re turning that responsibility into concrete action and also shining a light on some of the trends we’re seeing in women’s health.
Wellbeing is a major area of intent on Pinterest, with searches like “self care routines” (+2250%), “mental health journaling” (+415%) “wellness routine” (+350%) and “quiet confidence” (+100%) all showing big increases year-over-year. It’s not just mental health, we’re also seeing search increases in topics related to fertility, family planning, pregnancy, and postpartum wellbeing.2
In line with some of these trends, we're proud to share a set of initiatives designed to extend our impact beyond the platform: investing in organizations on the frontlines of women's health, empowering the next generation of young women and girls, and building a trusted space on Pinterest where women can find expert-backed resources on the topics that matter most to them.
Pinterest has always been a place where women come to imagine and build the lives they want—and women's health is deeply woven into that journey. With this initiative, we're taking that spirit a step further, investing in the organizations, experts, and young women who are shaping a healthier future. We believe inspiration is most powerful when it creates real change in the real world.

Maternal health is one of the most urgent challenges facing women in the United States today, and too many women are still being failed by the system. The disparities are especially stark for Black women and families in underserved communities. Through a grant from the Pinterest Forward Fund, we’re proud to support BirthFund, founded by Elaine Welteroth. BirthFund raises awareness about the state of maternal care in America and deploys critical midwifery services to expectant families in need. Every mother deserves safe, equitable and compassionate care, and we’re honored to stand alongside an organization working to make that a reality.
“
The maternal health crisis in this country is urgent, and Black women and families in underserved communities continue to bear the greatest burden. We know that awareness can save lives, and so can access to trusted midwifery care that helps mothers feel seen, supported and safe throughout their pregnancy and birth journey. We’re grateful for Pinterest’s support in helping us expand that awareness and connect more women and girls with information, community and care that can empower them to advocate for themselves and their families.”

The Pinterest Impact Fund helps make it possible for young people to protect their emotional wellbeing in a digital world. As part of that work, we’ve invested in girls’ social-emotional learning and mental health over the past few years. In 2023, we began partnering with Girls Leadership, a national nonprofit that works with schools and youth programs to create spaces where girls practice using their voice and feel inspired to lead. Our first support focused on family workshops that give girls and their parents or caregivers a nurturing space to explore their voices together. With Pinterest’s latest support, Girls Leadership will expand its sports programs for girls ages 11–18, giving coaches, families and athletes practical tools for positive mindsets and strong team bonds. Together, they’ll build a foundation for emotional wellbeing that lasts far beyond the season.
In addition, we’re providing philanthropic investment to Surgo Health, a Public Benefit Corporation pioneering human-centered data and AI for healthcare, to conduct new research into the mental health and wellbeing of teen and young adult girls in the United States. This work will deepen understanding of not just how girls and young women experience mental health challenges today, but the beliefs, motivations, and decision-making pathways behind those experiences. This intelligence will inform how we can better support young people's wellbeing on and beyond Pinterest.
On the platform, we're building a dedicated Women's Health resource hub—a curated destination where users can discover reliable, expert-driven content on the topics women search for most. From maternal and reproductive health to mental and emotional wellbeing, hormone health, and positive self-image, the hub is designed to be a supportive, stigma-free space for women at every stage of life.
Central to this effort is our partnership with SHE MD, a trusted voice in women's health education. SHE MD is joining Pinterest as an anchor content contributor to the Women's Health hub, bringing credible, accessible health content directly to the millions of women who turn to Pinterest for inspiration and guidance every day.
At SHE MD, Dr. Aliabadi and I are on a mission to change the world for women’s health by giving women the knowledge and tools to become their own best health advocates. Partnering with Pinterest feels meaningful because women are already turning to the platform for inspiration for their health journeys—SHE MD can meet them where they are with credible, expert-driven information in a supportive, stigma-free space, and make trusted women’s health content more relatable, empowering and accessible through Pinterest’s new Women’s Health hub.

Our support for women’s health also extends to our Pinterest employees. Earlier this year, we partnered with Maven to enhance our support for employees navigating fertility, menopause, and all stages of women’s health, ensuring that everyone at Pinterest has access to expert care and resources when they need it most. Through Maven, Pinterest provides expert support for women at every life stage, from family planning and fertility to menopause and beyond. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership and finding new ways to amplify their work.
Women's Health Month is a moment to pause, reflect, and commit. Pinterest is committed to showing up for women and girls not just in May, but every day through the content we surface, the communities we invest in, and the partnerships we build.
Because a world where women are healthy, informed and empowered is better for everyone—and it’s a future we can help make possible.
