Grid of dreamy Pinterest aesthetic elements: rainbow gradient sky, a centered Pinterest logo, glittery clouds, a confetti-speckled crescent moon, a bold rainbow arc, twinkling starbursts, and a soft, sparkly texture throughout.

This April, Pinterest returns to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival with a disruptive idea: a phone-free experience. We’re challenging festival-goers to step into a new kind of inspiration, unplug from the scroll and unleash their wildest, most creative and carefree selves—because the best moments in life happen off-screen.

On Pinterest, searches for “Coachella outfit ideas” are up 465%1 year over year, and throwback searches for “Coachella 2016” outfits are up 740%2 year over year, proof that festival fans are already turning to Pinterest to plan what they’ll wear, try and bring to life. But what if, instead of curating moments for your profile, you made memories for yourself?

This year at Coachella, we’re making that possible with:

  • A phone-free experience: Upon arrival, guests will lock away their phones and free up their attention. With analog experiences having a resurgence on Pinterest—Gen Z searches are up 260% for “analog aesthetic” and 150% for “dumb phone”3—we’re giving friends space to actually spend time together.

  • e.l.f. Cosmetics partnership: As the official makeup partner of the Pinterest beauty bar, festival attendees will receive bright and colorful beauty enhancements utilizing e.l.f. products.

  • The Pinterest pop culture profile: Your digital hub for festival fashion and beauty inspiration throughout the season.

“

Coachella is one of the biggest moments of the year for self-expression, and Pinterest is where people go to discover what they want to try next. This year, we’re inviting festival-goers to stop scrolling past their lives and start living them. By creating a phone-free experience, we’re making it easier to be truly present with friends, embrace the moment and bring inspiration to life.”

Go phone-free at Coachella

Upon entry, guests will lock their phones in a pouch and step into an experience designed for uninterrupted joy.

Inside, each activity is designed to be shared: friend groups will create custom charms with one another, get styling and beauty touch-ups inspired by Pinterest trends and capture their new looks in our “poptimistic” photo op.

Guests will also receive a printed Joy Guide to personalize using physical artifacts collected during their visit, such as stickers, postcards and lenticular photos they can mail home to themselves and share after the festival.

"

As a creator, I’m on my phone all day—filming, editing, posting, and engaging online. Partnering with Pinterest to go phone-free at Coachella is me choosing to disconnect so I can reconnect. Pinterest is my go-to for constant inspiration, it's where I curate the vibe and plan my looks before bringing them to life. Once I’m there, I want to be fully present for the music, the people, and the moment.”

“

I’ve been on Pinterest getting my whole life together for Coachella. Looks, glam, nails, all of it. So partnering with a platform I actually use for inspiration just made sense. For me, it’s the best place to start planning my festival weekend and bringing all my ideas to life.”
