Pinterest was the first to sign the Inspired Internet Pledge to make the internet a safer and healthy place for everyone—especially teens. And as we celebrate the Pledge’s third anniversary, you can see one part of our commitment come to life in the newly revamped (Me)dia Mindfulness board on Pinterest, created in partnership with NAMLE and the Inspired Internet Pledge.
(Me)dia Mindfulness is a one-of-a-kind resource hub for teens and adults that connects digital wellbeing and media literacy. Together with a growing network of digital wellbeing experts, we’ve curated resources from trusted partners around the world to offer a skills-based approach to media literacy, with empowerment-focused ideas for Pinners at every age and stage.
In sections like ‘For Youth, ‘Healthy Habits,’ ‘AI Literacy,’ and ‘Digital Civility’ you’ll find Pins organized around three core skills:
Access: finding and choosing media and tools effectively
Analyze + Evaluate: understanding the purpose and content of media messages and assessing their credibility
Create + Act: using knowledge to participate in civic life, producing and sharing media content responsibly and effectively
In the ‘For Parents + Caregivers’ and ‘For Educators’ sections, Pins focus on three skill areas specific to adults who support kids and teens:
Model + mentor: setting a good example of what healthy and responsible tech and digital media use looks like; teaching children to use tech and digital media in a healthy, purposeful, and responsible way
Build accountability: establishing healthy boundaries and making it easier to help children manage their tech and digital media use
Empower with agency: enabling children to achieve digital agency and independence, prioritizing helping them take control over tech and media use rather than instituting mandates or bans
Explore the refreshed (Me)dia Mindfulness board and save what inspires you.
And in the coming weeks, keep an eye out for Rooted + Resilient, a new extension of (Me)dia Mindfulness with resources and workshops on trauma-informed digital wellbeing, created in partnership with Transcending Trauma through Yoga. More details are on the way soon.
